The Clos Galena<\/strong> winery was born in El Molar in 1999, when the P\u00e9rez-Dalmau family’s dream of running their own winery in the DOQ Priorat <\/strong>became a reality. Their first wines were launched on the market a few years later, in 2002.<\/p>\n

From the very beginning, both Merche and Miguel firmly believed that the Priorat project had to be guided by a deep respect for the environment. They built their sustainable and ecological winery at a time when the DOQ Priorat <\/strong>was beginning to gain a certain reputation in the wine world thanks to Ren\u00e9 Barbier, \u00c1lvaro Palacios, Dafne Glorian and the rest of the \u2018Pioneers\u2019.<\/p>\n

In 2013, when her husband passed away, Merche decided to carry on with the project they had started together, thus paying the greatest tribute that she could to the person with whom she had begun the journey of producing limited edition wines of exceptional quality.<\/p>\n

In recent years, the winery has also made determined efforts in the area of wine tourism, revealing to the world the fantastic place where its wines are made. You can visit the winery by choosing one of the several wine tours they offer.<\/p>\n

You can try the classic visit, with a tasting of two wines, enjoy a brunch of local products or even a meal along with the wine tasting. They also offer tours and events for companies, which include the wine tasting and a meal or coffee breaks. During the cal\u00e7otada<\/em> season (from January to March), besides the tour, you can participate in a typical cal\u00e7otada, where you will taste the region\u2019s unique spring onions (cal\u00e7ots<\/em>) grilled and served with a special sauce and accompanied with other grilled vegetables and meats.<\/p>\n

Visit Clos Galena<\/strong> to discover the purest Priorat, and taste its smooth, full-bodied wines with ripe tannins that still manage to retain a certain freshness.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour wine is going to be at a very important event,\u201d was what Clos Galena\u2019s Swedish importer told Merche a few days before her Formiga de Vellut 2014<\/strong> wine was served at the Nobel Prize dinner<\/strong>. Currently, her wines are exported to more than 30 countries and 70% of the winery\u2019s production is used to supply international markets with exacting standards.<\/p>\n
