The Mussons project began in 1928 and has survived to the present day thanks to subsequent generations who have continued the tradition of winemaking and vinification for almost 90 years, always with the same formula: respect and passion for the vineyard. They have accommodation and a restaurant in the winery itself. Come and enjoy a complete experience.

Wines and vermouths from the Celler Mussons winery

• Mussons Blanc
• Mussons Negre
• Cava Brut Nature
• Vermut Mussons

The Mussons family has been making and selling wines since 1928, when the company was founded. Subsequent generations expanded the business, and in 1964 they began bottling under the names Mussons and Scala Dei. In the seventies, they helped in the foundation of Cellers de Scala Dei.

In 2009, after having spent more than a decade cultivating and making their own wines in the village of Poboleda, they founded the current Mussons winery which falls under the DOQ Priorat appellation.

You can enjoy a day of enotourism at the winery starting with a visit to the family’s vineyards, which are in dry, typically Mediterranean, terrain. The scarce rains, the extreme temperature fluctuations, the arid llicorella soil, and the winds that blow in from the north, all complicate the production levels in the vineyards. However, these elements also contribute but to the hardiness of the vines, which build up a resistance to their harsh conditions and develop fruit with a quality and personality that are unique in the world.

After touring the vineyard, you will visit the winery in Poboleda, and learn about the winemaking process. Celler Mussons produces red and white wines. For the reds, they grow both local varieties, such as black Grenache (the most widely grown Mediterranean variety in the world), garnatxa peluda and Cariñena – all of which are perfectly adapted to the dry and arid conditions of the Priorat – and international varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.

For their white wines, they cultivate white Grenache – typical to the Iberian Peninsula and found in abundance in the areas of Tarragona and Aragon – and macabeo, which also a predominant variety in the province of Tarragona.

For those interested in experiencing wine tourism in a small family winery, this is a perfect place to begin discovering the wines of the Priorat.

Don’t miss the wonderful and homely experience that is Celler Mussons!
