What is meant by vegan wine?

Vegan wine is wine that excludes animal derivatives in its production. In other words, no animal products are used either in the ingredients or during the manufacturing process.

In traditional wine clarification, animal-derived substances may be used, such as casein (a protein from milk), gelatin (derived from animal cartilage), egg whites, albumin (a protein from blood), etc.

In the case of vegan wine, clarification is done with plant-based or mineral elements, for example, using proteins derived from potatoes, wheat, peas, or carrageenan (a polysaccharide extracted from seaweed).🌾
