Familia Ferrer Winery

If there is one thing the Ferrer family knows how to do, it is to transmit passion over time. It all started on the La Freixeneda estate more than 400 years ago, where, in 1616, the first vineyards were planted.
Today, the estate has more than 200 hectares of Mediterranean forest and several vineyards worked respecting the oenological essence of a long family tradition. This love for the land has been transmitted as a legacy that continues to live generation after generation.

Another jewel of the property is the Ca Sala winery, which dates from the 19th century, and which was the historical setting for the production of the first Freixenet bottle in 1914. At present, Ca Sala produces one of the most prestigious sparkling wines in the world: Ca Sala, a real tribute to the matriarch of the family.

When the Sala and Ferrer families joined their paths, they gave rise to the renowned Freixenet brand. With the sale of the largest sparkling wine manufacturing company in the world, the family has returned to its origins, recovering a past in which traditional procedures have a prominent place.
